KARACHI: Qari Saifullah Mehsud, spokesperson for the Hakimullah Mehsud faction, a splinter group of the Taliban, has accepted responsibility for the murder of famous qawwal Amjad Sabri.
Sabri was gunned down in broad daylight by unidentified gunmen here in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area. Sabri, 45, and an associate were travelling in a car in Liaquatabad 10 area, when the gunmen fired at their vehicle.
Amjad Sabri was son of the renowned qawwal of the ‘60s, Ghulam Farid Sabri and the nephew of qawwali icon Maqbool Sabri who passed away in 2011.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the murder and directed the departments concerned to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to book.
Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said the PPP government won’t spare the culprits involved in the brutal killing of famous qawwal Amjad Sabri.
