ISLAMABAD: The Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) in 18 different operations across the country on Tuesday recovered 121 kilogrammes of narcotics worth Rs 95 million in international market.
The seized drugs comprised 111kg hashish, 2.3kg heroin, 5kg opium, 2.86kg methamphetamine and 450 psychotropic tablets. During these operations, the ANF also arrested 25 suspects, including six women, involved in drug trafficking and impounded four vehicles. The operations were carried out at Lahore, Khushab, Haripur, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Karachi.
According to reports, the ANF Lahore arrested a lady drug carrier, Sadia Yaqoob, and recovered six kilogrammes of hashish from her personal possession. She was arrested from Band Road, Lahore. In another operation, the ANF Lahore arrested a local drug supplier, Sabir Amin, and recovered two kilogrammes of hashish from his possession. He was arrested from Ferozepur Road, Lahore. Meanwhile, the ANF Lahore also arrested two drug suppliers, Nadeem Akhtar Qadri and Muddassar Iqbal, and recovered 30 Kg of hashish from them. They were arrested from Band Road, Lahore.
In fourth operation, the ANF Lahore Road Check Team on a tip intercepted a car near Shahpur, District Khushab and recovered 9.6 kg of hashish and four kilogrammes of opium during a snap cheeking of a car. A drug trafficker, Muhammad Shahid, was also apprehended during the operation. In fifth operation, the ANF Lahore Airport Team apprehended two passengers, Zahoor John and Asima Mazhar, at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, while they were boarding for Colombo and recovered 850 grammes of heroin concealed in their trolley bag. During interrogation, they also confessed of ingesting heroin filled capsules.
In sixth operation the ANF Lahore on pursuance of information, intercepted a car near Sheikhupura Bypass, Lahore and recovered 44 kg of hashish from secret cavities of the car. Two persons on board, Mukhtar Masih and Shahbaz Ahmed, were also arrested during the operation. In seventh operation, the ANF Lahore Airport Team arrested Muhammad Shahid at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 1.86 kg of methamphetamine from his passenger bag. The accused was proceeding for Riyadh. In eighth operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a car near Babu Sabu Motorway Interchange, Lahore, and recovered 450 ecstasy tablets from possession of two persons on board identified as Zahid Fazal Khan and Sohail Khan, both residents of Peshawar.
The ANF Peshawar Airport Team arrested a foreign bound passenger named Muhammad Tariq Jan resident at Peshawar Airport, while he was boarding for Riyadh, and recovered 770g amphetamine concealed in his briefcase. After initial investigation, his accomplice, named Habib Ullah Khan,was also arrested from a nearby area. In another operation, the ANF Peshawar Road Check arrested Muhammad Ehsan and his lady accomplice identified as Kinza Bibi, while they were travelling in a Rawalpindi bound passenger van near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and recovered 1.5kg of hashish and 1.2kg of heroin from their personal possession. Meanwhile, the ANF Peshawar intercepted a passenger named Tahir Zaman, at Peshawar Airport and recovered 1.04kg of hashish, which was concealed in his hand bag. He intended to take off for Ras-al-Khaimah. In fourth operation, the ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a taxi near Panian Chowk, Karakoram Highway and arrested two drug carriers identified as Sarwar and his lady accomplice named Baslal, along with two kilogrammes of hashish. Hashish was contained in lady’s hand bag.
The ANF Peshawar Airport Team also detained a foreign bound passenger identified as Nawab Gul, while he was boarding for Ras-al-Khaimah and recovered 420g of methamphetamine concealed in his trolley bag. During interrogation, the accused also confessed of having Heroin filled capsules. In their sixth operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested a lady drug trafficker named Salma Bibi and recovered one kilogrammes of opium and 3.4kg of hashish, concealed in her luggage. She was arrested while travelling in a passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar.
In their seventh operation, the ANF Peshawar Road Check Team arrested Akhtar Gul and his lady accomplice named Roshna Bibi and recovered 11.8kg hashish from their personal possession. They were arrested while travelling in a passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar.
The ANF Karachi, while intercepting a UK bound parcel containing documents at a courier service office recovered 30g of heroin concealed in it. In another operation, the ANF Karachi seized a parcel at an office of a courier service company and recovered 240g of heroin concealed within the surgical items. The seized parcel was destined for Canada. Yet in another operation, the ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler identified as Ahmed and recovered two kilogrammes of hashish from his possession. The accused was arrested from Fateh Chowk, Hyderabad.
