KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited the residence of Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah and congratulated him on the recovery of his kidnapped son Barrister Awais Ali Shah.
Talking to the reporters here on Tuesday, he praised the Pakistan Army for recovering Barrister Awais safely. He said that the army had recovered Awais Shah with sprit and courage. He also said that an investigation team had been formed to investigate the matter and the details would be shared with the media after the investigation was completed.
Barrister Awais had been recovered after an intelligence-based operation at the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lt General Asim Bajwa disclosed his recovery through a pre-dawn tweet. “Awais Shah recovered through an IBO from custody of terrorists from near Tank, three terrorists killed,” he tweeted.
The paramilitary security personnel drove Awais to his home on Tuesday morning and people in the neighbourhood distributed sweets to celebrate his recovery. He was transported to Faisal Base in Karachi from Tank in a special aircraft and later shifted to his home under tight security, a private TV channel reported.
Justice Sajjad told the reporters that Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called him at 3:am in the midnight and told him about the recovery of his son. “He was kind enough to let me talk to my son when I asked, and he was kind enough to arrange a plane and got him here from Tank,” he said.
He added that he had absolutely no idea about which group was behind the kidnapping. “All I know at this time is that my son is back.”
